• I remember being in elementary school, visiting my grandparents and being in awe of my grandfather’s artistic talent. He enrolled in art classes in the 1920’s, but did not pursue an art career, instead finding work at a factory. In 1956 he was badly injured when a piece of machinery hit the back of the head, and he never fully recovered. He had double-vision and his motor skills were greatly impaired. Painting became therapeutic for him, and he practiced every day. It was during this time - sitting with him and watching him paint - that my passion for art was ignited. My ultimate desire is to bring joy through my artwork, just as my grandfather brought joy through his.
